Reading #1

I thought this was an interesting introduction into what we will be talking about in this class. I noticed that Larry had said something similar to what the author said when she said, "theory is all about the question 'why'."  And I found it interesting too that becoming a designer is all about learning "how."  Most of the chapter was about Avant-Garde and the ever changing views of authorship.  I have definitely noticed more individualism among designers lately, claiming their work and posting their portfolios everywhere.  I like how she points out that technology is leading to greater universality.  She did a great job of referring back to the Bauhaus and other examples to give a good history about where universality originated.
